Grave Encounters and Grave Encounters 2

My roommate had already seen Grave Encounters, so that's where this horror and scream filled journey begins.

My roommate and I are both slightly obsessed with horror movies, especially the weird, the scary, and the bloody. So one day we decided to look up random videos on YouTube of the scariest horror movies.

Grave Encounters is a great movie. Literally has some of the worst footage, and quality of footage, but for the movie, it worked. As pat of the "found film" sub genre of horror, we would be more skeptical if the footage was of higher quality anyways. Like, "wow, you just happened to catch ghost footage on your super nice camera. Seems realistic." Plus, ghosts mess up footage, and like to destroy cameras or so we thought. Grave Encounters takes place in an abandoned institute. Already you know you're going to be freaked out just walking down the halls. But, just all of the little movements prep you for some of the bigger scenes, which like Paranormal Activity, isn't all that big of a scene.

Grave Encounters 2
Holy Shit.
I don't know what kind of reviews the first movie received, but I'm guessing they ranged from this is so good (funding for the next movie approved) to this is so incredibly horrible (remember to fix all of these problems in the sequel), because there was a MAJOR upgrade. Grave Encounters 2 had more comedy, more blood, more bumps in the night, and of course, more Grave Encounters. It's hard to describe exactly what was so scary and weird about Grave Encounters 2, but I'm going to start with: the whole movie. The movie starts off as a bunch of vlogs stating their opinions on the first movie, both positive and negative. And then our main character turns out to be super into horror movies, and finding out if Grave Encounters is fact or fiction.

Graveencounters2poster.jpgIf I had to choose between Grave Encounters and Grave Encounters 2, I would 100% choose the sequel. I definitely recommend you see the first before the second, just because Grave Encounters 2 has a lot of scenes from the first movie randomly thrown in which can get really confusing. Grave Encounters 2 also mentions people, places, and events that happened in the first. So it might be helpful to see Grave Encounters to understand the sequel. But, if you're really that pressed for time, then Grave Encounters 2 is THE BEST.

That's all for now, until next time on "From The View of MalMal."
