Across The Universe follows a girl born on earth who was cryogenically frozen for almost three hundred years and her journey after she wakes up too early aboard a ship full of people and has to adjust to all the changes civilization has made.
Beth Revis shows us the scary truth of not paying attention in history class, and how quick things can turn sour with the wrong people in power. Her story may start off slow, but quickly becomes uncomfortable and terrifying in how realistic it could be.
The book was good, but not great mostly because of the relationship between the two main characters, and the pacing. I really hated the “romance” that was starting to bloom as it didn’t feel natural and at times made me a little disgusted. Towards the end, the faults in the romance were better realized and it started to feel more natural. In addition, I wasn’t a huge fan of Elder, the main guy character who felt emotionless to me, especially in the beginning.
The second book has strong potential to be much better, so I’ll definitely continue to see how this series will play out.
