The Wife Between Us

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks

A thriller with twists and turns, some predictable, some not. It gets a little over-the-top at some points, and is slower in the beginning, but overall a very compelling thriller.

The Wife Between Us follows two young ladies, once who has just ended her marriage, and one that is just about to get married, but the twist is that they're relations are with the same man.

The "first wife" is protective, and borderline a little psych towards the newly-weds. She stalks them, trying to find out their schedule, and sometimes calls. In the end, we find out why, but the mystery remains throughout the whole book, as we try to figure out what is going on.

I was able to figure out the first plot twist early on, and while it didn't effect my overall enjoyment too much, I found the next couple of twists to be a little overwhelming.

I read this book via audiobook, and at the end, the authors discuss how they had to keep a separate notebook to keep track of all of the things going on in the character's lives. And that they also were able to tell the little details about the characters (even some that weren't mentioned in the book). Both of these things both helped and hindered the book. Knowing their characters inside and out, showed, and made a lot of the characters feel more real (and also seemed to help me discover the first plot twist). But having the plot lines and backstories kept so chaotic I feel really hindered the reading experience. There was just too much going on.

Overall, I would recommend this book to fans of the thriller genre. It might not be the most original story, or even the best, but it is definitely very entertaining.
